Kumeu Valley Estate Wedding

We asked Shannon and Mitchell to sum up their Kumeu Valley Estate wedding vibe in a few words. “Relaxed” was their response.
“Perfect” we thought, “we love relaxed weddings”.

Next question was what else they still had to do before the wedding. “Oh we just need to organise a cake!” they told us.

Here’s my interpretation of what happened next.

The wedding gods must have been listening in and decided to have a giggle.
“Oh, you’re relaxed are you?” “Need to organise a wedding cake” “I see how we can wreak some havoc here!”

The wedding day comes around and Shannon has found an awesome wedding cake. She’s organised for her kind family members to pop into Auckland city and collect the cake from High Street.
After 45 mins of walking up and down the street – they give up and decide to call Shannon. “We’re at the address, but there’s no cake shop here!” Shannon rushes off to check the address and at that moment she realises that the cake is indeed ready to be collected from High Street… In Christchurch!

True to their word, Shannon and Mitchell stay completely relaxed, and quickly move onto plan B (aka – ANY cake they can get to the wedding in time!) When we arrived at Kumeu Valley Estate – we were pleasantly surprised with what their family had managed to organise for them at such short notice.

Oh and if you’re wondering what happened to the Christchurch cake – there’s a happy ending! Shannon and Mitchell decided to donate the now surplus cake was donated to a retirement village for morning tea.

Shannon and Mitchell decided to give a joint speech – and they absolutely nailed it! It created such an incredible narrative for their wedding film – that you can right here!
