Old Forest School Wedding

Rosie and Darion are our kind of people. Lovers of doggos (one very good boy in particular) cheese and a chilled out afternoon in the sun.
Darion had been telling me about the best cheese ever in the lead up to the wedding (Over the moon creamy blue for those who were wondering) and I can tell you – it did not disappoint!

Their day started down the road at Pukehina Beach, where both the guys and the girls had nabbed a beachfront home to get ready. I can’t recommend this enough as a wedding day splurge! It completely set the tone for the whole morning, with the added bonus of our first photo location being only a few steps away. Rosie and Darion decided to do a first look and a bunch of bridal party photos on the beach. This meant that come the afternoon, we were able to sneak out when the sun was just right for a few quick shots in the forest, and they were able to spend the bulk of their time just chilling with their guests. They were so chilled in fact, that even when they realised that the wedding cake (aka the giant tower of cheese) had been left in a fridge elsewhere – they didn’t bat an eyelid.

One of my favourite parts of the incredible Old Forest School, is how many different areas you can use throughout the day. The ceremony area under the trees feels private and welcoming, the dining area has just the right amount of cover to feel cosy, but the very best part has to be the outdoor courtyard under the festoon lights. If you can nail the timing for your first dance and have it just after sunset (like Rosie and Darion did) you get the perfect balance of colour in the sky while the festoon lights look magic.

Rosie and Darion – you guys are amazing. Thanks so much for including me in your wedding day and for introducing me to the world’s best cheese.
