Connor and Karishma’s Markovina garden wedding

Wedding Photography by Amber

Connor and Karishma’s stunning garden wedding in Kumeu gives us all the feels. If the sun is setting, we want to get you those golden hour shots. We were able to steal Connor and Karishma away for a sunset photoshoot and these images have become some of their absolute favourites. Read more below to see what they had to say.

What is your favourite memory of the day?

Connor: My favourite memory of the day was the ceremony. Seeing Karishma walk down the aisle in her wedding dress I experienced a wonderful feeling I have never felt before and will never forget.

Karishma: My favourite memory of the day was at the very end of the wedding. The DJ was playing the last song of the night – ‘(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life’; most of our guests had left by that point and only our closest family remained on the dance floor. Connor and I shared a dance as bubbles rained down around us, and I felt the tears coming! I will never forget that moment and the feeling of “wow, we did it”. It was like a fairytale moment, full of magic.

What surprised you on the day?

The photoshoot that we did in the evening on a hill in Kumeu was a wonderful surprise from our photographer. We had an amazing sunet. We weren’t expecting to go to that location and they are some of our favourite pictures from the day. Overall, we were surprised by how relaxed we actually felt on the day – we were so taken care of by the venue, our vendors, our friends and family – everyone around us came together to make sure we didn’t have to be stressed and could just focus on each other.

What was one thing you wish you had known before planning your wedding?

Karishma: How fun it can be to plan! All your loved ones should be there to celebrate you, not to judge every detail of your wedding – so it’s okay to just relax, have fun, and not do everything ‘by the book’.

Connor: I had thought it would be stressful to stand in front of everyone and have all their attention on me, but on the day, it was absolutely fine. When Karishma came down the aisle, everyone else disappeared.

What’s your advice for future couples?

This may sound harsh, but consult as few people as possible during the planning process. It is yours and your partner’s wedding – while you may want the approval of all your friends and family, ultimately, everyone will be happier and the whole process be much smoother if YOU are happy, and not trying to please everyone else! Also, remember to have fun with your partner and not take everything too seriously. You won’t remember the colour of your table settings when all is said and done, but you will remember the moments of laughter and fun you had while picking them out together.

What is your favourite photo and why?

Connor: I have two favourite photos of the day. The one of us standing between the trees (above); it’s a beautiful and cinematic shot and it feels as if we are looking forwards our future together. The other one is the close up of us (below) – I think it’s one of the most romantic shots of the whole day.

Karishma: I also have two favourites. The one of us laughing together – it was really important to me that the photographer be able to capture us having fun, I feel like this picture is a great representation of us as a couple. My other favourite is us walking back down the aisle (below) – I love the softness of the photo; the lighting, the way I’m looking at Connor, the bubbles. This was a really special memory of the day for me too.
