Carey & Gabriele’s Kumeu Valley Wedding

Watching Carey’s dad accompany her down the isle was an emotional scene, as Carey explains below, it was a special moment to share with her father on her wedding day. The team at Kumeu made sure the entire day went smoothly and we managed to get some epic candlelit photos at the end of the night.

We asked Carey to answer some of our questions to help our future couples when planning their wedding, and here is what she told us:

What is your favourite memory of the day?

My favourite memory is Dad seeing me for the first time in my dress. He’d fought so hard to hold on and be there for my wedding, despite being so very sick. The look on his face knowing he’d made it, and was able to see me get married before he died… Tears all round.

What surprised you on the day? 

How fast it went! I felt like it literally flew by!

Annette at Kumeu Valley was incredible, like a little fairy just magically making everything happen.

What was one thing you wish you had known before planning your wedding? 

That the details really didn’t matter. I barely remember food, some decorations ended up in random places, but on the day, it’s a blur. I needn’t have stressed about any of it.

What’s your advice for future couples? 

I chose not to have a bridal party except for flower girls. Best decision!! So much easier without them. All I had to focus on was myself and my husband. No drama, no fuss. 

What is your favourite photo and why? 

I love all Amber’s pics, so it is hard to choose!!

I love the night photos with the fairy lights (above and below), the photoshoot in front of the barn (below) and amongst the trees (below). It really is hard to choose!

My Celebrant Tasha was amazing. She kept a wonderful vibe going throughout the day, and smiles on everyone’s faces. I’d forgotten about witnesses and she’d already sorted it without being asked, giving raffle tickets to my guests. 

She went above and beyond, checking in on me after the wedding, reaching out when dad passed, and again on the first Father’s day without him, she really is a gem.

Also DellAmore Bridal in Clevedon. No pressure to buy, they were nothing but helpful, and after scoping out no less than 6 bridal stores in the Auckland area, she has by far the best quality dresses available.  

Annette at Kumeu Valley was so accommodating. Nothing was a problem, and the entire day went smoothly.

_{Amber was perfect. I sent example of photos that I liked, and got exactly what I asked for. And most importantly, she fast tracked my photos so Dad could see them before he died. That meant the world to me. I lost him shortly after the wedding.}
