Michael and Regina came from Hong Kong for their pre-wedding photography. The brief was – sunset, beach and something with nature – we knew the perfect spot – so out to Muriwai Beach we headed.  We had spied these beautiful orchids a week earlier, so we made a quick detour en route to the beach – we were spoilt for choices of colours in the orchids – so we chose them all!

Even on a cloudy day Muriwai Beach is stunning – but when the sun is shining – you’re in for a treat! We had soft golden light for the hour we were exploring the cliffs and the sand dunes and just as the colours started to light up the sky – we raced down to the water’s edge to make the most of the pastel sunset.  Once we had used up all the light on the West Coast – we headed back into the city and to one of Auckland’s most grand buildings – the museum, which is beautifully lit at night. We had hoped to take some photos in front of the last of the autumn leaves in town, but since it was now completely dark – we had to make our own light. We love how this Gingko tree photographed after dark!

Regina had four different outfits for the different locations – we started with a more relaxed engagement style look, before bringing out the dramatic wedding dresses for the beach and the sunset. We kept the amazing evening gown for our evening look – using the city lights of Auckland as a glamorous background.
