Tomairangi and Shelley’s wedding was a day filled with the biggest smiles, happy tears, and a beautiful golden hour sunset. We asked them to share some of their favourite moments, so read on to see what they had to say:

What is your favourite memory of the day?

Tomairangi: The short considered moments in-between, where Shelley and I could take time together to just be as a couple outside of the celebrations.

Shelley: Dancing! Dancing! Dancing!

What surprised you on the day?

Tomairangi: Our celebrant Miriama Smith came with a wealth of knowledge and experience around weddings. Every interaction with her was warm, well-considered, and wholesome – from offering thoughtful suggestions to orchestrating moments for us to exist as a couple without external interference. She was instrumental to the seamlessness of our day.

Shelley: The unexpected gift that Tomairangi gave me the morning of our wedding day.

What’s your advice for future couples?

Tomairangi: Hold space for one another, no matter the circumstances.

Shelley: Give yourself permission to be present.

What was one thing you wish you had known before planning your wedding?

Tomairangi: Pre-plan the planning; allocate considerable and specific times to plan with each other.

Shelley: Realising the importance of the digital space and accessibility for people who may not be able to attend the wedding in-person.

What is your favourite photo and why?

Tomairangi and Shelley both shared a selection of their favourite images of the day, and you can find them amongst our favourites below. These include the special moments they were able to steal away with one another, getting ready before the ceremony with family, photos under the towering trees, emotional hugs with their friends and of course the magical sunset towards the end of the day.
