Amanda & Innocent live in Australia, but came back to NZ to celebrate their wedding with their families here.
One of our favourite things about weddings – especially here in Auckland – is the diverse range of cultural flavours we encounter. This was our first time capturing a Zimbabwean wedding, and it was so much fun!
The first thing we noticed was the dancing – even from when we first arrived for the morning preparations, the dancing was underway! It gave such a fun, uplifting energy to every little moment.
The next thing was the beautiful smiles & laughter – there was no shortage of jokes being told, and genuine, proper, heartfelt laughter – it made our job as photographers so easy because everyone looked so happy & relaxed, all the time!
Amanda and Innocent chose to have their ceremony in St. Matthew in the City church – which is one of our favourite churches to shoot in. It’s so stunning, both inside and out. I also love that you can get up onto the balcony for a view looking out over top of everything. In the morning I asked Amanda ‘so – do you think Innocent is going to cry?’ – and she was pretty confident that the answer was no. But seeing her coming up the aisle towards him, those emotions can be hard to hold back!
After the ceremony, we headed around the city for some photos in the late afternoon golden sunlight. We aimed for a mix of nature and urban together – finding some cool inner-city spots that gave awesome backdrops for wedding photography.
Then it was across the bridge to The Wharf wedding venue in Northcote – which has a stunning view out over the harbour. The evening was beautiful – some lovely speeches and delicious food – and then it was time for that famous dancing! We had so much fun being there to capture it all.
This is just a tiny sneak preview of how the photos are looking – there are more than 500 additional photos in their full wedding day collection! For now – enjoy this little taster of The Wharf and St Matthew in the City wedding photos.
