The Same Day Edit Experience

6 days ago, I decided to give away a free wedding video.  I was on the hunt for a couple of loved up ‘guinea pigs’ who didn’t mind being a part of a little experiment!  I wanted to try my hand at an offering called the Same Day Edit Experience, which means filming and editing a wedding video and showing it at their wedding reception that very night!  I’d done similar things before with two shooters/editors, but this was going to be a little different…  this wedding was just me shooting.  I wanted to see how far I could push myself to by myself create a wedding film on the day of the wedding.

And it turns out Richard and Keryn were the perfect guinea pigs, and they definitely were loved up!!  Right from the moment I arrived at their place, there was a buzz of excitement.  Keryn’s dad Shane was busy cleaning the cars (and kindly decorating the road with said tyres), and the girls were just a ball of laughter from the get to.  Having Richard close by meant I could pop on over and capture a little of him getting ready too.

We then shot off to The Hall just out of Morrinsville, which btw is an amazing wedding venue!  And from the end of the ceremony, I hopped into my little man-cave editing station out the back and kept working on the Same Day Edit Experience film that would air in just a few hours…

It was an amazing day, and the whole solo/shooting/editing process went super well.  Although fitting in Richard and Keryn’s speeches did get the computer mouse moving pretty fast to cut that in time for the airing at about 830pm!

But the best bit about the whole Same Day Experience really was being in that hall while the film played through the events of the day.  It really was quite electrifying for everyone to re-live such an amazing day together.  I was a little nervous, but it went down quite a treat!

So here’s the Same Day Edit film I made for Richard and Keryn.  They were an absolute blast all day long (even surviving the photoshoot aye Richard! 😉 ), and I’m so stoked I got to capture their wedding for my first solo-SDE!
