Logan + James
Tantalus Waiheke wedding
Photographed by Isaac and Amy
We were pretty excited to get over to Waiheke Island to photograph our first wedding at Tantalus – the new kid on the block when it comes to Waiheke wedding venues.
Logan and James had the most stunning autumn wedding day, the burnt yellows and orange tones were starting to tinge the grape vines, and the weather luckily held out for them!
In the morning, we headed over to hang out with Logan & James at their respective properties in Onetangi. They both had immaculate handmade tuxedos crafted by Crane Brothers – who also custom created their Italian leather shoes and bow ties.
Logan & James decided that rather than keeping their guests waiting for a long time after the ceremony while they went off and took photos, they would instead do a ‘first look’ and get the photos done before the ceremony.
This is such a great idea, for many reasons! Logan was feeling super nervous as he got dressed and the time to meet up drew nearer … but as soon as they were together, those nerves faded away and they could relax and enjoy the wedding day more.
Plus – you get to spend more time with all your guests after the ceremony, it’s hard enough to get around and chat with everyone as it is – let alone when you disappear during the cocktail hour!
After they saw one another for the first time & shared a glass of champagne with their wedding party, we headed down to Little Oneroa to seek out the shade. Even for a late autumn afternoon, the sun was still blazing strong!
Back at Tantalus, the guests were gathering on the lawn for the ceremony to take place – the ceremony setting at Tantalus is stunning – beautiful backdrop of vines, tucked on a lawn surrounded by beautiful tufts of grasses.
The ceremony was so heartfelt – really deep and genuine vows that they had specially written for each other. Immediately afterwards, is one of my favourite times of any wedding day – the post-ceremony congratulations. I just love seeing so many wonderful expressions, and amazing hugs. It’s the perfect time as a photographer to just capture that candid, happy magic that makes wedding photography so rewarding.
Onwards to the party – Tantalus has the most incredible food, we were looked after so well (which is always appreciated at the end of 10-12 hours!) – and the party continued into the night. It was a stunning wedding day, and something that we felt really honoured to be a part of.
This is just a tiny preview of the images – there are more than 500 still to follow these. Enjoy!
