Paul + Alesha
If there is one assurance I can give in this life, it is as follows:
Paul and Alesha are impossible not to love!
These two have personality in droves and it was an absolute blast to tell their possession settlement-day story of nerves, unfiltered thoughts and the feel-good vibe that oozed all throughout the wedding day.
So here’s their quite unique wedding film that captures the spirit and heart of what Paul and Alesha are all about… and why one can not help but fall in love with these two!!
PAUL + ALESHA – POSSESSION … I MEAN SETTLEMENT DAY
For a few behind-the-sense thoughts on the film… I’ve always tried to be aware of the often unseen assumptions / rules / expectations of ‘wedding videos’ and worked my best to push beyond them. For example. It’s just assumed you must have a song to accompany your highlights film. But why do us storytellers have to conform to that rule…?!
So for a while now, I’ve had it in my mind to try and edit a film without any added music fullstop! Just to push the boundaries of wedding storytelling and use the audio of the day to drive engagement and hold the film together instead of a generic song. Now it’s probably a pipe dream to edit an entire film without any music, but for Paul and Alesha, I did manage the first 60 seconds without any added gingle!
This film also really drives home why I love the medium of video. It just captures a certain dynamic and level of story that’s impossible to get from photography. It, at least tugs at my heartstrings and captures the human spirit in a way that’s truly unique to a well-made video.
I hope you enjoyed the film! (captured at the always lovely Kumeu Valley Estate btw!)
Till next time.
Jared.
