Rachael + Stephen
Mudbrick Vineyard Waiheke wedding
Photographed by Isaac
On a beautiful, sunny autumn Wednesday – I jumped onto the Waiheke ferry and headed over to capture the wedding day of Stephen & Rachael.
April is hands down my favourite time of year to shoot weddings. The sun sits low in the sky – and even on the brightest, sunniest day imaginable, the light is still gorgeous. We did their ‘first look’ and photos before the ceremony all around 2pm … in the height of summer this would have been sweltering hot & blindingly squinty… but in autumn – perfection.
Their ceremony took place up on the terrace as the sun began to slide towards the ocean, with stunning views out over the harbour – one of the most still, calm days I’ve experienced. We wrapped up with some gorgeous shots in the golden light & sunset.
I was half thinking that maybe, because it was a Wednesday, the boat ride home might have been slightly less rowdy than the usual Friday / Saturday evening ferry… nope. Apparently people party just as hard on Waiheke during the week! Might need to move our studio over I reckon 😉
Here’s a little sneak peek of Rachael & Stephen’s wedding day – enjoy!
