Matt & Melissa
Muriwai wedding photography locations
Matt & Melissa were married last Thursday on their grandparent’s farm in Kumeu.
“A Thursday wedding??” – I hear you ask. Yes. It was – coincidentally – also Melissa’s birthday… what an awesome way to celebrate!
Matt also now has just the one date to remember, for wedding anniversary & birthday, which is both genius & also risky… he’s totally screwed if he forgets both.
After the ceremony we headed down to Muriwai for a few photos, followed by their reception at the Swanson RSA.
Matt & Melissa keep chickens at home, and Mat had been looking forward to proving to his groomsmen that fresh, free range eggs (these ones were collected that very morning) were the way to go. They definitely looked pretty awesome!
It was also quite coincidental that Matt & his boys were all brought together through their love of football – they play for the same club. And – on the wedding morning – at precisely the time that they probably should have been doing other things… the semi final between Auckland City & San Lorenzo was taking place!
Perfect timing & a great way to kick off the morning (haha. “kick off”. See what I did there.) Even though they didn’t quite pull off the win, it was still pretty epic to see them go that far.
After the football, the boys got into a bit of a working bee to finish the last few preparations to the property before the wedding.
Unfortunately, the weather hadn’t been kind over the last few days – and the wedding day began misty & pretty wet. Luckily, a backup shelter option was able to be carried down into the ceremony venue in the paddock. Many hands, light work, and all that!
Along with the chickens, Matt & Mel also have 2 goats. They got to be colour themed as well.
This sign used to say “Please do not enter (but you can feed us)”. It sat next to some feed buckets so that the guests could feed the goats & chickens.
Unfortunately, the goats decided the signs were also quite tasty.
The best thing about getting married on your birthday is that the day begins with presents!
I love this moment where Melissa’s Dad sees her for the first time.
Matt & Melissa’s German Shepard – Falcon – was there to witness the ceremony too.
Melissa’s Dad at one stage told them “getting married is basically just jumping over a stick & declaring yourself married”. So Mel decided to interpret that literally!!
Down at Muriwai is where Falcon gets to go for his walks.. I think he was a bit disappointed in the lack of time, ball throwing, and attention. He made sure to get himself in front of a few shots, though.
