On a relatively frequent basis – we’ll see our couple’s pause halfway through the day and have to massage their jaw from all the smiling they’re doing. Well, at Amber and Daniel’s wedding – it was me, grinning my head off behind the camera, who needed a jaw stretch! And that’s because Amber and Daniel are two of the loveliest human beings you’ll ever meet.
Not only does Amber have an awesome (albeit rather confusing on the wedding day) name, but she brings sunshine with her wherever she goes.
I watched as she brought a smile to the face of every person who came into the room – her happiness is absolutely infectious.

When you see Amber and Daniel together – it all makes sense. They share a sharp sense of humour, which meant they laughed, giggled and grinned their way through the day like absolute pros. Known as ‘Danber’ to their friends, these guys makes the most amazing team. They met at a friend’s Friday the 13th party, where Daniel was dressed as the joker from Batman complete with a full face of make up & green wig, so Amber didn’t have any idea what he looked like! A mutual friend of theirs, Jenny, decided to make it her mission to set these two up, so for the next few days (and years) she would drop some subtle (and not so subtle) hints – “So Amber, how about Daniel?”
It took a while for them to finally reconnect, but Jenny’s perseverance paid off – and she got to sit beside them on their wedding day.

I had a different photo plan in place for Amber and Daniel, but as soon as I spied the field full of “flowers” (*cough carrot weed cough*) we changed tact and knew we had to make the most of this stunning backdrop. Amber and Daniel glided through the fields like the elegant specimens they are, while the kids and I frolicked and bobbed up and down like excited meerkats.

Their reception – hosted by the wonderful Annette from Kumeu Valley – had the same vibe as an epic family dinner. Easy, relaxed and full of love. What more could you ask for?

Amber told us she has been following our work for years – ever since we photographed her friend Katherine and Tim’s wedding, and it was lovely to see some familiar faces throughout the day.
