Liz & Matthew’s wedding day began with persistent, drizzly rain – and it looked like it was going to stay that way. They stayed totally upbeat and happy though – which is the most important thing!
Everyone was relieved when, later that afternoon, the rain lifted and the skies cleared – meaning they could still have their ceremony at Gracehill Estate outside, as per the original plan. Gracehill totally has a wet weather indoor alternative – but outdoors is so lovely, tucked down in the little pagoda near the lakeside.
One of Liz’s bridesmaids arranged a surprise limousine pickup from their accommodation, so they could ride to the wedding in style. Because it was only 5 minutes down the road – this became a bit of a rural joyride instead, taking a leisurely route through the Kumeu backroads while sipping champagne – the perfect way to get into the right frame of mind to go get married!
After the ceremony, we raced out to Muriwai beach with Liz & Matthew – and we were blessed with the perfect light – soft overcast skies making for the most epic wedding photography conditions. We were lucky with the tides too – meaning we could access the rocks and the caves down the end of the beach. It’s amazing that all inside 45 minutes we managed to shoot dunes, beach, wet sand reflections, cave, and on the rocks … efficiency plus!
Back at Gracehill, we arrived just in time for sunset – and then the reception kicked off, with some amazing speeches (including a slideshow of Matthew’s childhood courtesy of his groomsmen!) and plenty of epic dancing.
This is just the tip of the iceberg – there are hundreds more photos still to come in their final collection.
