This is probably going to be the most images I’ve ever shared from one wedding. But I think as soon as you start scrolling – you’re going to understand why.

Sam and Georgia’s backyard wedding almost didn’t happen like this. In the weeks leading up to their wedding – Auckland was in lockdown. It was going to be touch and go. We started chatting through what every option would look like and plans were put in place for a 10 person wedding just in case.

As we got closer to the wire it became apparent just how close it was going to be. On the Saturday (Plan A) they were going to be able to invite just 10 of their 100 guests. But by the Sunday Auckland was moving alert levels, meaning that all their guests (some of whom had spent the past two weeks in quarantine just for their wedding!) would be able to share the day with them.

It was an easy call to make but meant that once again, they had to be adaptable.
The marquee they had booked for their backyard wedding wasn’t going to be able to set up in time – and no marquee meant no furniture. The solution – use every available chair, stool, couch and piece of pool furniture they could find. The entire family pitched in and by the time the ceremony rolled around it was hard to believe that this eclectic array of furnishings wasn’t the plan all along. They mixed up the seating for a more relaxed dining experience and then everyone gathered in for the speeches. Something they never would have been able to do with plan A!

The absolute icing on the cake was that with no marquee to worry about – they were able to bring out the braziers and fire-pits which perfectly set the scene for the evening. They were even able to light a bonfire!

Now you may be thinking that all the reasons above are reason enough to love Sam and Georgia’s wedding. But even without such an incredibly unique and special set-up, you’re going to fall in love with Sam and Georgia and their families. They were all so present and exuded such joy that I can’t help but grin every time I look through this collection. I’m so thrilled that when I look back through these photos, I can just feel their happiness radiating out all over again.
