Kate and Mike’s Auckland City wedding
Wedding Photography by Amber
“From the beginning you were professional but laid back Amber, you were amazing in the lead up with the check ins and you even checked the weather forecast and booked us a wet weather venue for pics – who does that! turns out you do and to get us to stand in the rain, you have no idea how much we nearly said no LOL and those pics are next level “
Kate and Mike’s Auckland city wedding was originally set to take place in the Parnell Rose Gardens, but was moved indoors due to our wonderful four seasons in one day. However, despite this we were still able to get some magical photos both inside and out! We asked Kate and Mike to share their thoughts for our future couples:
What is your favourite memory of the day?
Kate: Walking into the ceremony with my Dad and seeing Mike at the end of the aisle and being surrounded by this overwhelming feeling of love from our family and friends.
Mike: Other than marrying Kate, seeing her for the first time in her dress was emotional.
What surprised you on the day?
Kate: That it rained and once we made the call to move to plan B it didn’t even matter that it was raining.
Mike: Kates dress and how awesome it was.
What was one thing you wish you had known before planning your wedding?
Kate: Everyone has an opinion and will tell you about it which can influence your priorities.
Mike: You have to accept that things may not go to plan and you just have to roll with it.
What’s your advice for future couples?
Kate: Make a list of what’s important to you on your big day and keep coming back to it. Also if your photographer asks you to stand in the pouring rain DO IT!
Mike: The earlier you accept it may not go as planned the more enjoyable the day will be.
What is your favourite photo and why?
Kate: Agh to many to choose from, but in no particular order, that bridge shot OMG it looks like the movies. The photo of Dads face seeing me for the first time brings back the memory of the moment. My friend Kelly and I hugging after the ceremony, it captures our friendship in one single frame and you can’t even see my face! Mike and I dancing with the rose in his mouth sums up the fun we have in our lives, the photo of my 2 oldest friends Paula and Kelly on the D floor having a great time, the photo of my Mum and Dad dancing to their song captures them beautifully and the cake photos as it was a pretty rad cake and then we ate it so its a great memory to have.
Mike: Us in the rain with the bridge in the background, if you have seen the photo you know why, followed closely by Kate walking into the room to see me for the first time, she is in the background and you can see her emotions and I am in the foreground, I like the emotion in it.
