Abbeville Estate wedding photos

Stephen & Fiona were married at the beautiful, rustic wedding venue Abbeville Estate in Auckland.
The entire morning, it POURED with rain – super heavy, torrential, typical Auckland weather really!
They planned to meet one another before the ceremony for a ‘first look’ – to get the majority of the photos out of the way so they could just enjoy mingling with friends & family after the wedding… and we were a bit worried about how it would go! Obviously we can’t really get the bride & groom completely saturated before they even have the ceremony, so what to do??
But miraculously, the rain eased around lunchtime.. and then just in time for the first look – it stopped completely. We had a nice dry (well, mostly dry) location shoot, and then it wasn’t until later in the afternoon that the rain really returned.
Later in the evening, once the meal & speeches were done, it was time for the guests to move across to the barn to dance away the night. People waited in the doorway, primed their umbrellas, gathered their courage – and then made a dash to the barn! This made for the chance for some epic backlit rain shots along the way – love it.
